25+ Years of Safety Compliance

Rafting New Zealand has been operating for over 25 years and is New Zealand’s most awarded rafting company — we are extremely proud of what we do and how we do it!

At Rafting New Zealand we are committed to minimising risk to ensure that you are as safe as possible. To do this we comply with guidelines set in place by several governing bodies, including Maritime New Zealand, Skills Active, and the New Zealand Rivers Association.

Our Certifying Bodies

New Zealand Rivers Association

A group made up of guides and operators within New Zealand. Set up in 1996 to help promote the sport of whitewater rafting to New Zealand and the rest of the world, the association has also developed a standardized qualification for rafting used across the country.

Maritime New Zealand

Worksafe is the governing body for whitewater rafting in New Zealand. They have brought in Health and Safety at Work (Adventure Activities) Regulations 2016 which Tongariro River Rafting ™ complies with.

Under this rule, all companies that operate in this field must have a safety operations plan that is reviewed by Worksafe. Tongariro River Experience™ holds a valid Worksafe Certificate.

Adventure Mark New Zealand

Adventure Mark audits us on a regular basis to ensure we comply with Work Safe Regulations.

Qualmark

Qualmark assesses tourism businesses against a set of criteria, awarding either a bronze, silver, or gold rating. At Rafting New Zealand, we’re proud to hold a Qualmark Gold award — recognition that we’re among the very best at what we do.
